Ky danced back from the swipe instead of blocking it, less effort that way, and then brought his sword up to clash with Johnny's blade once it was devoid of the force it had started. He tore back his swing partway through, though, stepping back and dropping his blade.

He didn't want to be scolded, not like this, not by Johnny. (Not by anyone, but at least he was used to a certain tone of it from Sol.)
