[True to Gamzee's word, on Sunday afternoon, there is indeed stuff on the beach fit for a beach party. Which, lets all be honest here, is something we should congratulate him on cause the chances of him forgetting a party he suggested in the first place are about 42.0% .

It is very clearly not a strictly organized beach party however. A variety of beach related things (seriously, the shopkeepers were hella awesome here and had gladly helped Gamzee bring up a whole load of shit he hadn't even known existed) lay strewn on the sand, everything from beach balls to small, colourful shovels for sand castle building (no buckets, wow, what was he, some kinda perv?) to various drink coolers stocked with faygo, faygo, some more faygo, and just for the people wanting something different, some faygo too.

Hope you like faygo.

Or brought your own drinks.

But seriously, anything you might need to have fun at a beach party is there (except, as mentioned, tiny plastic buckets, please this is a very culturally sensitive beach party) up to a few surf boards, even. So grab whatever you want, find a friend or make a new one, and have some fun.]

[Equius gingerly takes the stick, careful not to break it and send flaming embers into his eyes.]

Was this meat or tofu?

[He shrugs. He can't eat it, so he honestly didn't check first.

It probably doesn't matter anyway, the food looks like it's mostly burnt pieces at this point.]

[Equius tosses the charred thing aside. Maybe the seagulls will eat it.]

Are you having fun?

[Kurloz nods. He may not be playing as much as other people would, but he's done some, and he's gotten to be his clowny self! It's a pretty good deal, in his opinion.

Next he points toward Equius. He wants to know whether the same is true of him.]

[Hey, a straight answer! This is a bonus!]

Me? Yes, I'm enjoying myself.

[It's so weird holding up a conversation completely on his own, especially with Equius' limited social graces. Aaaaawkwaaaard...]

[Well, it's a simple question. And an obvious answer, really. Plus Equius has managed to get on his "not so bad" list.

He points toward the water. Did Equius go swimming, or is he just here for the food, or what?]

[So basically Equius moves in descending order down the resident indigo's lists, from "schmoopy woopy" to "not so bad" to "oh fuck that guy." Interesting.]

[He shakes his head when Kurloz points at the water.]

No. I can swim, but stayed on the shore today. What about you? Do you swim?

[He makes a little "kind of" gesture. He had a sea goat for a lusus, he would be dead if he hadn't gotten the hang of it, but he doesn't tend to often. Increased chances of running into seadwellers, and even if he doesn't have anything against them as a group, Cronus and Meenah aren't his favorite trolls.]

Did your goat tell you to stay away from the water too?

[Equius knows all about indigos and their goats.]

[He nods, then tilts his head. How'd Equius know about that? In all his ramblings, Gamzee's never really talked to Kurloz about his matesprit.]

Gamzee told me about his goat, and how it told him to stay out of the deep water. I figured your goat probably told you the same thing.

[Because all indigos obviously have goat lusii.]

[Well, the two indigos in question certainly do. And that is something something his lusus told him, so he nods.]

[That is a reasonable positive response from Kurloz, and Equius starts to relax a little. This indigo still reminds him more of the Grand Highblood than Gamzee, but he doesn't seem overtly dangerous.]

Is the mouth stitching thing common for subjuggulators?

[He doesn't want to lose his makeout privileges with the littlest indigo on account of religion!]

[zipperlips]

[Kurloz shakes his head, then points to himself and does his zipping-his-mouth-closed mime. It's just him. After all, the GHB doesn't do it, does he?]

[In all fairness, Equius tries to avoid the Grand Highblood at all costs. Dude scares him half to death.]

Ah. So why do you do it, then?

[Seems inconvenient.]

[zipperlips]

[Why? Well, he just did his usual gesture of "explanation," so instead of pretending his mouth is a zipper again, Kurloz just puts one finger in front of his mouth. To keep quiet, of course. Why else?]

[Okaaaaay...]

But couldn't you just not talk? Did you really have to sew it shut?

[zipperlips]

[He nods enthusiastically. Yes, he definitely did! He cant't be showing off the even creepier things he did to his tongue, after all.]

Uh huh.

[Equius is willing to accept that it's a religious thing, ultimately, albeit a very strange one.]

So how do you communicate if you don't talk?

[zipperlips]

[He holds up his hands and wiggles his fingers. He could write or type too, of course, but why would he do that when he doesn't have to? And he's not going to give Equius a demonstration of talking with his hands unless he's specifically asked.]

That seems overly complicated. I can't imagine there are many people around who know how to talk with their hands.

[He shrugs, and nods, clearly unconcerned with that fact.]
