Monthly Mingle Log
[This week those that are coming for the welcoming party might be surprised to find the plaza deserted. Entirely deserted? No. There is a sign there, along with one helpful local to help point it out to anyone.]
This week we are hosting our party above the water. Please come join us on the island! Don't forget your coat, the winds are quite blustery.
- Station Master
[And indeed, this month all the activities can be found up on the island. The normal tables and booths have been set up at the edge of the old village, near to the beach. There is the customary food and drinks table, sporting a few more hot meals and warm drinks than normal. Wouldn't want anyone to catch a cold, right?
Then a little further on there is the booth for the host club and the one for the welcoming committee. Have a question about this strange new place? Want to maybe find some companionship for an afternoon? Better check out these places.
And then there are the tables covered with... Are those kite supplies? They are! Everything you could ever want to make a kite. Wood and linens, paint and glitter. If you can use it to craft a kite, you can find it here. If you can use it to make your newly crafted kite even more awesome looking, it is definitely here.
Station Master is standing near to those tables, chuckling a little.]
It's such a nice day, isn't it? Nice wind. Wouldn't feel right to not to do something with that. Feel free to fix up a kite for yourself. Some people are already flying their kites over there, see?
We're also going to have a bit of a contest with them later. Come check us out if you are interested.
[And indeed, later in the afternoon, it is time for this contest. Oh, but not just any kite contest. If you came here expecting a beauty contest or perhaps a kite flying endurance test, you are in the wrong place. Instead, there is just Station Master, smiling happily, holding his cap to his head lest the winds take it out to sea.]
All right, all right, everybody, these are the rules. We're going to replace the string of your kites with these abrasive lines. Please be careful, they are rather sharp. The goal is going to be to cut the lines on each other's kites. Please only cut the lines! We don't want anyone losing their heads here, haha.
If the lines on your kite are cut, you're out of the contest. The last person with an intact string wins.
Of course, it goes without saying that this is a friendly competition. No physical fighting please, and again, look out with those lines. Luckily the Head Nurse was willing to attend with her first aid kit in case anyone is injured.
[He turns for a moment to aim a friendly wave at the Head Nurse. She just smiles. Just smiles.]
