The Doctor Arrives (again)
Who: The Doctor and You
Where: Standard Plaza Drop
When: Late Morning, just before Noon, November 24th
Style: Brackets preferred but I'll match
Status: OPEN
[A rather damp man in a tweed dress jacket and red bow-tie suddenly appears in the plaza next to the corral.
He spins around quickly, observing and taking in the scene before him in a rush of information.
He runs his hand through his hair nervously only to discover that it is wet.]
I'm wet. [He brings his hand down from his head and inspects it. Sniffs it. Then tastes it.]
Correction. [He looks down at the rest of himself and flaps his jacket out a few times as if to get rid of the excess liquid. He begins to straighten his bow-tie.] I'm soaked... [There is a pause.] with salt-water.
And I'm inside a bubble under an ocean next to an enormous piece of coral.
Ooookay. [He claps his hands together and tilts his head to one side and then the other.]
No TARDIS in sight. [He checks his pockets.] Sonic accounted for, that's good. [He removes his sonic screwdriver and takes a reading. There is a green light and an electric buzzing noise for a few seconds. It turns off and he flips the device up to his eyes to inspect the data.]
Well I haven't mis-aimed. There is certainly something odd about this place.
[He places the sonic screwdriver back in his waterlogged pocket.]
So here's a question. [He continues to talk to himself and walks in a semi-circle around the coral.]
Why does this feel oddly familiar?

Nope! I also like your intro line XD
In the flesh. [He smiles and extends a hand. Realizing it is still wet, he looks around for a towel, finds one, grabs it, hurriedly uses it on his hand, and extends it again.]
Have we met before?
XDXD It had to happen.
Briefly, if I remember correctly. However, I'm not sure if you'd remember.
[ A pause as he glances over to the coral. ]
This city does things like that, I'm afraid. I am Doctor Kazutaka Muraki, one of the resident physicians. Welcome back to Vatheon.
Definitely!!
[He follows Kazutaka's glance to the coral.]
Vatheon. It's strange but I do think that means something to me. That coral has something to do with it. [He points at it several times with his finger as he tries to put the connections back together.]
;;; sorry I take so long recently.
As unusual a phenomenon you believe it to be, I'm afraid it really does happen. At times, the coral brings us here and returns us home. Then it chooses to bring us back. Sometimes with or without memories of our previous stay.
[ Glancing over at the coral. ]
It has everything to do with it, Doctor. Most everything, I'm afraid.
No worries!
Very inconvenient. I rather like having my memories.
Tell me Doctor, what is known about it?
no subject
[ There's a small frown as he takes his glasses off to clean them, taking that time to think about just what they do know about it. ]
I'm afraid gathering information isn't easy. It doesn't break, it doesn't chip no matter how much force one applies to it. Collecting samples for study is simply out of the question. The locals treat it as a god and most recently, there has been a meter measuring the coral's power. It seems to spike when something unusual happens to the city, thusly confirming most theories that it's behind it.
no subject
That's a little unsettling. A giant, seemingly impervious, possibly sentient, and all-powerful coral.
Where could it possibly get all the energy from?
no subject
I haven't the slightest clue. You see the meter.
[ Gesturing to it with a hand. ]
That was a recent addition. Before the installation, we used to go by its glow which certainly wasn't reliable in the least. I'm afraid I can't give any further insight. My specialties, after all, don't lie in marine biology.
no subject
You've been extremely helpful Doctor Muraki.
[He kneels down at the meter looking at the readings. After a moment he takes his sonic screwdriver back out and takes a reading.]
It hasn't done anything malicious has it?
no subject
[ His hand goes into his pocket just to draw out his cigarette case, flipping it open and taking one. ]
Do you mind? I find it helps me think.
no subject
no subject
It would depend on what you term as malicious. The coral has 'moods', as I've come to term them. At times, the changes are nothing more than unsettling, mischievous... however, those behind our incarceration certainly have an agenda they aren't telling us.
no subject
The coral is one issue. You're saying that there's a group of people who are purposefully making it abduct people and have the ability to control it.
no subject
[ He steps closer to the coral, taking another drag of his cigarette and placing a hand in his pocket. ]
What I can tell you is that I can hazard a guess that there seems to be an elaborate experiment concerning us and the coral. What we have in common, why we are selected to be brought to Vatheon... I'm afraid I haven't the slightest idea.
no subject
Then perhaps it's time we found out.
no subject
And how do you propose we do that?
no subject
Is there anyone in charge of this place? Someone we can talk to?
no subject
[ He takes a drag, glancing upward again. ]
The locals are of no help and neither is the Head Nurse... However, we've had contact with a scientist who seems to be in charge of the matter. She hasn't been heard from for a while, I'm afraid.
no subject
[He similarly glances up and then back down at the coral - as if it might start giving them answers.]
Does she have a name that we know of? Or a location?
no subject
She's at the clinic most days. Though I work there myself, we hardly cross paths. As for her name, she doesn't go by anything. Just "Head Nurse".
no subject
And what about the scientist in charge?
no subject
[ He turns once, putting his attention to the coral itself. ]
We aren't really certain who's in charge. Once I had thought it was Alpha but thanks to his disappearance, it's hard to tell who really is in charge.
no subject
[He's talking somewhat to himself. Not that he has a lot of room to talk on this point.]
It couldn't be Bob. Or Endingerashti. Or something else that's normal.
[He shakes his head getting back to the point.]
From the time you did spend together, what was your impression of this Alpha?
no subject
Alpha... had a rather short temper. He was somewhat of a recluse.
[ Taking another drag. ]
Even though I was the only regular doctor on call in the clinic, we rarely saw each other. Then one day, he had a change of heart. He went on the network apologizing for what he had done and... promised us the sun.
[ A frown. ]
After that, he disappeared.
