Simply put, James is bored. He's happy but bored. He has almost everything he could have wanted so what else is there? He's even got bored of flying on Sirius' brooms. So he walks around the plaza looking for people to meet or things to do.

Nasuti hadn't expected to see James outside of the Marauder House. In a force of habit, she tried to obscure her face in her communicator in order to avoid being detected.

...but then, wait. This is silly! Why would she be hiding from him? It's not like she's even intruding upon his space anymore--if that was truly his grievance with her and Touma. Perhaps they could start off on a fresh foot, seeing as she's respected his wishes and found a place of her own.

Tentatively approaching the man, she waved, smiling mildly. "How're you taking to your new housemates? Hopefully it's not too crowded?"

Shin was out shopping for the supplies for his new hobby - well, old hobby, but he hadn't done a thing with it in years. Seeing James, he gave a smile and a wave. "James! What're you up to?"

Ratchet was working his way across the Plaza with an arm full of groceries today. He needed food for his apartment and going hungry wasn't really something he wanted to do. He was lost in thought as he walked though. What was the point of this place? It wasn't an afterlife, enough people had told him that. But then what was it? A holding cell? A dimensional abnormality? A snow globe somewhere?

He shook his head and chuckled. A snow globe. That was a good one. Too bad he was thinking about the snow globe on some fireplace and not where he was walking because a moment later he was falling, tripping over something and falling down on top of his bag, food spilling everywhere.

"...I hate this place..." He grumbled as he pushed himself up and started to regather his supplies.

James hadn't had a problem with Nasuti. She'd explained her situation and left quite quickly. So when he saw her, he smiled and waved back.

"It's a big house. I'll live." Which meant, he was avoiding Touma like dragonpox.

"How are things with your new house?"

[James just shrugs.] I'm bored Pads. There's nothing to do around here!

"Hey Shin." James greeted his friend dully. "Not much. Trying to find something to do." He wandered over.

"What are you up to?"

James didn't even see Ratchet until he was right on top of him and then it was too late. "I'm so sorry." He muttered and tried to help with the supplies.

"It's fine." Ratchet groaned. Okay that hurt. Humans were a lot bigger than he was and getting landed on top of by one was not fun. He looked up at the man and gave a raised eyebrow.

"Hi. I'm Ratchet."

I wouldn't say nothing. You could go explore the island.

Maybe it's time you found another hobby.

"Empty, mostly." She had just started arranging the furniture to suit her tastes, and while she initially enjoyed the peace and quiet (and privacy, for that matter), the silence quickly wore out its welcome.

"I suppose it's my fault for picking out a house three times too big for me." She said this with a mild chuckle, more out of nervousness than having actually found humor in what she said.

"Yeah. I suppose I'd feel the same if I didn't have Lily or Sirius." He smiled, shrugging.

"Hey, maybe you could come for dinner one night?" He did want to get to know Shin's friends, especially now Shin was a good friend of his. He just didn't want them thrust upon him like Touma was.

Alone? Nah. I'd rather walk around aimlessly.

"You sure?" He sure was a little guy. "I'm James. Nice to meet you, Ratchet."

"Yeah. I should have been watching where I was going." He shrugged and brushed his armor off.

"Nice to meet you too James. I'm guessing you're not a native to this city, are you."

"Me too." James admitted.

"And no. I got pulled in here, then left, died and came back." And he's totally okay with it!

Excuse Ratchet while he just kind of stares at you for a moment. "You...died then came back here?" Okay, this is only adding to his theory about this place and it ain't a happy theory.

James nods. "I'm not the only dead person here either." He continues to smile about it. He's not bothered at all.

"...And being dead...doesn't bother you at all?"

[selfless_stag]

"Not really. I died for a good cause. There was a reason behind it and if I went back, I'd do it all again even knowing."

"Must be nice..." Ratchet muttered under his breath before sighing and trying to fake a smile. He doesn't do a good job.

"Dang. Sounds like you had an exciting life."

"Are you okay?" He wonders about the mutter then corrects him for the other statement.

"Not really. Just had a powerful mad man wanting to hurt my family."

Ratchet double takes, the first subject kind of forgotten.

"...Whoa. Why did this man man want to hurt your family?"

James didn't push it. If he didn't want to talk about it, he wasn't going to push him.

Talking about his own life was fine though. "Yeah. He wanted to kill my kid and I got in the way."

"Why? Why would he try to kill your son?" Ratchet seemed a bit disturbed by this. Why do you keep hitting him so close to home James?

James peers at him closely. "...How did you know it was my son?"

[last_lombax]

Oh crap. Ratchet looked away for a moment. "Um...lucky guess, I guess..." He coughed and looked back up at James.

"Okay not a completely lucky guess. Same thing...kind of happened to me. Only it was my dad that saved me. Guess I was kind of going off of that..."

"Nice guy your dad then?" James sighed, missing Harry.

[last_lombax]

"Wouldn't know. Only ever met two people who knew him; his best friend and his murderer." Ratchet shrugged and looked to his side. He really didn't want to talk about it considering what had happened between both said people.

"I'm sorry." Okay, new subject. "So..." Come on Potter! Think! "...How long you been here then?

"Less than a month. I'm still pretty new here." A nice change of subject there Potter. Thank you.

"Ahh, I wondered. I think I would have noticed you around."

"Yeah, I kind of stick out like a sore thumb here. Did back home too so not much of a difference."

[selfless_stag]

"Yeah." James just smiled. He was running out a subjects they might have in common.

"Sooo...what do you do for fun around here?"

[selfless_stag]

"I fly. And spent time with my friends. We have a pool too so I swim too."

"Whoa whoa whoa. Back up a bit. You fly? You got a ship? Where is it?"

"A ship? I don't sail. I fly. On my broomstick."

[last_lombax]

"Well I meant star ship but...

Wait. A broomstick? How do you fly on a broomstick?"

[selfless_stag]

"What's a star ship?" James frowns in confusion but shrugs and answers his new friend's question anyway.

"Easy. You get on, kick off from the ground and fly. I could show you sometime if you'd like."

"A ship you use to go into space. What else...?" He blinked at the description of how to take off on a broomstick and slowly tilted his head. "Um...that makes no sense."
