It should have been a normal, average day for Rin in Vatheon. It should have been, but it only took a few seconds for him to realize that wasn't going to be the case. His leisurely approach to the ice cream shop was interrupted rather violent when he was nearly bowled over by a handful of people barreling out of the doors.
He was just barely able to dodge them, barking at them to watch where they were going in irritation before he realized that they weren't just running, they were fleeing in fear from something. Small black creatures were chasing them, hot on their heels and jumping at anyone they could get close to. A child fell face first as one jumped on her back, causing her to scream in pain as it began to claw wildly.
"H-hey! Get offa her!" Rin screamed at it, but the creature didn't seem to care. He grabbed the sword case off his back, but hesitated. His flames could easily do more harm than good with so many people around. Even with his control, it was just too risky. So he went with the only other option he had - using the cased sword like a baseball bat and whacking it as hard as he could.
It went flying, skidding several feet away and, thankfully, lying still for the moment. The girl got to her feet, scratched up but otherwise alright.
"What the hell is goin' on?!"
She said nothing in response, but pointed in to the shop where the real fight was taking place. She ran off while Rin was distracted, staring at the two people with strange weapons exchanging blows, and the few unfortunate souls that had been trapped inside with more of the weird creatures.
Jumping in! Lemmie know if this is okay!
