"Nyaha, yeah, you did. You existed, princess." It was a fair enough argument. It was pretty typical for Izaya to find random interest in whoever seemed worthy at the time. Granted, Zelda had quite a bit going for her what with the additional mystery of Sheik. Not to mention her general, odd, kindness. Which made him wonder...
"Say Zelda," he said, "Why are you kind to me? Do you want to understand me? Or something like that?" he asked, his voice seemingly sincerely curious. Not as much prying.
As for the mention of the handsome blond guardian, Izaya's smile remained still and gentle. "I miss Sheik. He's very handsome," he said, watching Zelda's face. "I'll have to keep my eye out for him," he said and looked away from Zelda as though he expected to see the man in question sweep by. Of course, he did not. "Is that the conclusion you've made? Ah...Link was very concerned with the death of his fairy. I hadn't seen him so upset before," Izaya said, recalling how his roommate had been so blatantly distressed.
"Someone else's name? My, Zelda, do you come from a world in which there is no one with the same name? My name is pretty unusual from my world but I'm still not the only one who's ever had it," Izaya said, his tone condescending as ever. "Besides, don't you think it's cruel to hold that against him when he was simply created in his current existence. He's just a child, Zelda. Mentally anyway. I'm helping him with that though. Ah? Why, Zelda, I've had such a horrible reputation that I've decided to be good. I want to redeem myself and I want people to actually like me. It's not really a charity case but I highly doubt that he'd judge me as others might. I selected my roommates very carefully. Ion is just as sweet and innocent. Okay, and he's also very easy on the eyes but that's okay, isn't it?"
He knew that he was rambling but that wasn't the most uncommon thing for Izaya. Either way, despite his claim to desire a reasonable reputation, his expression didn't change once. "Of course, Zelda. Most people are uncomfortable with admitting to their flaws. I understand. How has the princess been otherwise?"
