Well, the Borderlanders use shortbow, so they have to be good as weapons. But he still thinks Two Rivers longbows and crossbows are better.
Yukari, he's holding a polearm. He raises an eyebrow in her direction, leaning a bit on the spear, and chuckles.

I'm not carrying something I can't use.

Not like the times he's carried that shortsword to discourage pickpockets. Shortswords are by no means his preferred weapons.
But after a moment he walks to back of the shop. It takes him a while because he keeps turning around to see what's on his left.
