[He should knock. He really, really should knock. No amount of putting this off is going to make it any better. In fact, the longer he waits, the worse it'll probably get. No matter how many times he tells himself this, though, that doesn't make it any easier. He knows full well he's late as it is, and even if he wasn't...

He sighs, shoulders sagging. Let's face it. He knows his homework will never be up to Raine's expectations.

Might as well get this over with.

He lifts his hand to knock on Raine's door.]

[ Raine was busy reading over her notes and working on some papers when she hears a knock on the door. She stops mid writing and glanced over at the door. She wasn't expecting anyone today. ]

Who is it?

[redcladidealist]

[Not exactly with the best of manners, Lloyd would have normally taken that as an invitation to open the door. He isn't so eager to face this, though, so he stands where he is awkwardly.]

It's me, Professor. Lloyd. I... I have homework I'm turning in.

[grandhealer]

[ Ah, so it was Lloyd. Though she wasn't surprised about how he sounded Raine was genuinely surprised that he had come up to turn it in. Usually she would have had to hound him some more before receiving homework from her student.

There's shuffling coming from inside as Raine moves out of her chair and moves a few things on her desk before heading towards the door. It wasn't long until she goes and opens the door to let Lloyd in. ]

Ah.. Lloyd. So you have finally decided to bring me the homework I had assigned you. Come in.

[redcladidealist]

[Don't be too impressed, Raine. Wait until you see the quality of the work Lloyd's turning in. "Abysmal" doesn't even begin to describe it. And judging by how the teen awkwardly shuffles his feet at the door, not actually stepping inside? He knows it all too well.]

Um... Can't I just hand it over? I'm sure you don't want me around when you grade it.

[grandhealer]

[ The only thing she is even partially impressed about is the fact that he had turned it in on his own... albeit late. The quality of the work is another story. ]

There are some books that I would like you to take back to the library.

[ As well as some more homework but shh ]

[Oh, well, if it's just books... Lloyd cautiously steps inside.]

Which ones are you turning in?

[grandhealer]

There is a small pile of books on the edge of my desk that I have finished researching.

[ she turns and starts walking over to her desk. At the end of is the small pile of books she mentioned are there. ]

[Lloyd follows behind her, and when they reach the desk, it's easy enough to figure out which pile she's talking about. He gathers the books, then turns and heads for the door. Maybe if he's fast enough he can escape before mentions anything else related to school.]

[grandhealer]

[ She doesn't even turn around to face her student before calling out to him. ]

Where are you going, Lloyd? I have another thing to ask of you.

[redcladidealist]

[Lloyd freezes, giving her a look for all the world like a deer caught in headlights.]

I was just going to turn the books in like you wanted. Don't you want me to do that first?

[grandhealer]

[ Oh don't give her that look Lloyd. She's not going to hand you homework yet ]

That would require you to come back here later. How much did Dirk teach you about roofing?

[redcladidealist]

[Roofing? She wants to know about roofing? Disarmed once again, Lloyd blinks at her, then rubs the back of his neck with his free hand.]

I guess I'm pretty good at it. We always had to do our own repairs whenever we got a leak in the roof. I'm better at climbing, so I've been doing more of them now that I'm older. Why do you ask?

[grandhealer]

I would like for you to check my roof. While I only have minor concerns on rain this house is still in a renovating state. If you'd like, you can check the remainder of the house as well for anything that might need to be fixed.

[redcladidealist]

[He'd still been half expecting her to bring up homework somehow, but that? That doesn't sound so bad. He smiles, lowering his hand.]

Sure, I can do that. If there's anything wrong, I'll have to go get my tools, but I won't know until I look, right?

[He sets the books back down, then heads for the door once more. No point in taking those with him. He'll need both his hands, and books don't belong on the roof.]

Have you actually had any leaks yet?

[grandhealer]

[ It's coming Lloyd. But the roofing she needs some work ]

Precisely.

[ Raine takes a moment to remember something before moving into the small kitchen ]

I recall there being a small leak over the kitchen counter. [ She points to where she is talking about as she speak. ]

[redcladidealist]

[Lloys follows her into the kitchen, looking up at the ceiling. He just stands there for a moment, examining it with as critical an eye as Raine ever gave someone's schoolwork. After that moment, though, he nods in agreement.]

Yeah, I think you've definitely got a leak. See where the ceiling's warping a bit, and how the color's a little different? Let's see..

[Now he's focusing on the window, trying to orient himself to where he'll need to examine the roof.]

Okay, what about anywhere else? Or is that the only leak you know of?

[grandhealer]

[ Raine nods her head, mentally taking note of it for future reference. ]

That is the only leak I'm aware of. There aren't any near my desk nor my bed. If you wish, you may check around the rest of the house in the case that II have any I am unaware of.

[redcladidealist]

If I'm going to look for leaks, I might as well check everywhere.

[Though that'll mean going into his professor's bedroom, too. Technically, he's sort of done that before, but Raine and Genis's house in Iselia had been small enough that there really was only the one room. It had been easy enough to just think about the room as just "their home," and it was Genis's bedroom, too. That wouldn't be the case this time.

That... might be a little awkward, but he can handle it.]

All right, I guess I'll get to work. I'll let you know when I'm done.

[grandhealer]

That would be wise. [ Which... is rare for Lloyd but it was probably because it was something he actually didn't mind doing. ]

All right. If you need anything from me I'll be here.

[redcladidealist]

[Hey, he's not all that bad. He fixed that Key Crest for Raine in one night so she could use that Exsphere. He's done other things quickly, too! Just... things he actually enjoys doing.]

Okay. See you in a little bit, then.

[With that he gets to work to see how bad the damage is.]
