Jam session
Characters: Dark Link, Johnny Rayflo, and anyone who happens by
Location: In the park
Time: Midday
Style: Free for all, but starting prose
Status: Open! feel free to join in with your instruments or just sit and watch~
Perched on a rock in the middle of the park, Dark Link raised his ocarina to his lips and began to play.
He knew he should probably wait for Johnny to arrive but he'd been so excited to be able to play his new ocarina that it was all he could do to contain himself in his new home. He hadn't wanted to keep Ion up, after all. So he had waited, squirming, until he could no longer stand it and went racing to the park to play with his new toy nearly as soon as the sun was up.
He noodled on the instrument, not playing any piece in particular but instead reveling as he strung notes together to form his own tune. Eyes closed, he felt the music almost like a living entity, curling around him protectively and keeping him safe in a cocoon of melody, leaving him oblivious to any interruptions or onlookers.
((ooc: Just fyi, the music he's playing at the moment is upbeat but with sad undertones and sounds vaguely Celtic. It's very traditional Hyrulian. For you fourth-wallers, there are strains of the Song of the Hero from Skyward Sword within it. Possible spoiler for Skyward Sword in the song just in case music is a spoiler for you.))

Of course, he had terrible luck, so he managed to run across Dark Link on the way to the library. Something in that song called to him. It was like he had always known it. The need to say something was painful, unbearable. But he was Sheik right now. He would speak the way Sheik always had - with a song.
He took his harp out, joining in. It was quiet at first, unsure, but before long he knew where the song was going and added his piece. He imagined sending his thoughts to Link as he played, the real Link, safely back in his childhood.
I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I love you. Are you happy there? Please forgive me...

"Are you from Hyrule?" He couldn't see the man's ears, but they could be hidden in his bandages.

Still, taking on the form of a Sheikah made him calm, made it easy to do whatever was necessary. Having a mask to hide his face with certainly helped, too. He tentatively held his hand out for a shake. Maybe they could be friends. Maybe he could help this person who looked so much like the hero.
Probably not while this curse is active... but this is a start.

He shifted self consciously and beat back his doubts, still staring at Sheik's offered hand with no idea of what to do.

"It's a greeting. It means 'nice to meet you'. I'm sorry."
Sheik paled, quickly putting the gag back into place backing away. He waved goodbye, then threw a deku nut to the ground, vanishing with the resulting flash. He couldn't stick around, who knows what else he would say? He could seriously hurt Dark Link, it would only take a few words... words he had already said.
You are not Link.

He stood and looked around wildly for a moment and then his shoulders sagged. Someone from Hyrule, someone who'd been willing to talk to him at least for a moment...
He wanted to follow but he still had to wait for Johnny and so he took his place back on the rock he'd previously vacated, though instead of continuing to play, he merely hugged his knees and wished he didn't feel so suddenly alone.

When he finally got to the rock, the vampire sat in the grass beside him, leaning back and listening. Yeah, the point was for them both to play, but he wanted to listen to this tune first.

"Hey. Sorry, I know I was supposed to wait but I was too excited and I got here early, so..."

And so he found himself here, in the park. The music caught his attention and he wondered over, finding the dark elf playing his Ocarina. He sat down not too far from him and just listened, taking in the song and the mood it set. It was nice, actually. Not his usual thing but nice nonetheless.

"Who are you?"

It wasn't like he'd heard an ocarina in action before and he liked the sounds it made.

Or rather, he felt as if echoes of it had been inside him for as long as he could remember in his short life. He'd hummed it incoherently in the temple but it hadn't been until his original stepped his iron-booted feet inside that he'd thought of - no, felt the melody more strongly. Dark Link furrowed his eyebrows, wondering why, then shook his head to rid it of such thoughts. Today wasn't for worrying about that. He felt good, for once, and he didn't want to ruin it.
"Can I hear a song from your world?"
no subject
He sighed. He really was bad at both dealing and understanding people, wasn't he? After all, at that time he also did something he shouldn't had done...
As he thought about that he heard a melody. He quickly looked around, then spotted the source of the sound.
It was Dark Link.
Ruca wanted to walk up to him, but remembering how he angered the other last time he hesitated. In the end, he decided to keep some distance and just listen to the melody.

"All right. Hopefully I can still remember it." He brought the flute to his lips and tested a few notes before going into the song.

((ooc: He's playing the second flute part but on the ocarina. The boy's got some kind of magical connection to music in general.))
no subject
((ooc: feel free to jump in on that thread if Ruca would approach, but unless he does, I doubt Dark Link would notice him.))
jumping in :3
After a longer while passed though, he decided to approach. Feeling bad for what he had said to Link back then, he thought it might be best to apologize (even though he already apologized). Still, he didn't say anything, but waited until the two stop playing.

"Nice to meet you, Link. I'm from the Polaris Galaxy. You?"
no subject
"I'm from Hyrule!" He indicates his ocarina. "Do you play an instrument?"
Getting right to the point now, aren't we.
no subject
A beat.
"Hyrule huh? Never heard of a planet called that before. What galaxy is it in?"

"Magic songs? Never heard of anything like that. Too bad it doesn't, I'd definitely want to see that." He's seen strange things in his life so why not magical songs? He wasn't going to reject it outright.
"So you just come here to play music then?"

We can say he ends up watching the above thread with Johnny?

"That was great! Do you know any other songs we can play? Your world's music is really nice."
Re: jumping in :3
Yeah. That works. ^^
