A dinner date

[He needed to get out of the house for a bit, get away from people in general.

He didn't really fear losing control, he'd never let it get that far on purpose, but hearing heartbeats and the sound of blood flowing through veins nearly constantly in his head was...difficult. It made it hard to think about other things.

It didn't used to be this bad. He could just down a bloodpack and, while it didn't really do much for his health, it made the hyper-awareness go away for a while. But human blood was like a rich chocolate mixed with a highly addictive drug, it tasted sweeter than anything else and was incredibly hard to come off of.

With Otoha long gone and his last taste of human blood months ago, his body was protesting as loud as ever. That's where the fresh air came in. Fresh air and a touch of isolation until the sound of heartbeats wouldn't be the loudest thing in the city.]

[ Barry loved parks. There was something all together romantic about the way parks looked at night. Everything took on a different hue under the lights of the lamps. For a predator like himself parks were ideal. He'd been sad to find that his new toy had seemed to have left the bubble and he was itching for something or rather someone to take the edge off.

Low and behold when his senses tingled, a turn of the head, and there was his favorite pray walking through the little slice of land under the sea.

A grin split Barry's face. Surely his luck wasn't that good, but then maybe it was.

He moved forward silent as a ghost till he was just close enough to be heard. ]

Addy~

[It was amazing how such a sweet and pleasant voice caused nothing but dread, fear, and anxiety all at once upon being heard. Johnny froze, his eyes closing tightly as though he were just hallucinating and there wouldn't be an angel-faced demon approaching when he opened them.

Unfortunately, it was a fool's hope.

He let out a sigh, this was really the last thing he needed.]

Barry.

[Really, it shouldn't surprise him. Barry had always been good at finding him and with the bubble city being the size it was, it probably wasn't that hard.]

Out for a stroll or did you come looking for something?

Hmm, a bit of both.

Fear not, I hadn't been expecting to find you here, but it's a pleasant surprise none the less.

[ Barry didn't try to lie about his presence here. Johnny knew him well enough to pick up on the fact that if Barry was out and about that meant no good for whomever it was Barry found. ]

How are your comrades?

[ The question was a forced nicety and the smile he placed on his face was just as forced. He hadn't forgotten Sola's most recent push against his claim to Johnny and he still had every intent of doing something about it when the time came. ]

['Just happened upon him' was hard to believe, but it would be just his luck. It didn't matter in the end, Barry was here and he wasn't likely to go until he was ready to.

Johnny crossed his arms and gave Barry his 'you're bullshitting' look and his tone matched.]

You don't care.

[Besides, he didn't feel like sharing.]

Just cut the crap and get to the point. What do you want?

[Like he didn't already know...]

Of course I do~ Fai and I grew rather close for a while.

[ A while being only a matter of hours and while Fai was under a curse. Just another little loophole Barry had managed to worm his way into. Who knew if Fai had actually told Johnny about that little tryst or not, but if Barry could use that as some sort of leverage then he was going to. ]

Addy~ I'm hurt that you'd think I have an ulterior motive for seeing you here. Can I not great an old friend?

[ He stepped closer to Johnny and stopped a slightly troubled expression on his face. Something wasn't quite right. ]

[His voice went from neutral to steely with that shot Barry tried to make. He knew Barry was trying to use that against him and it probably would have worked if Fai hadn't already told him about what had happened. If anything, it just made Johnny want to punch him more than ever.]

A friend? Sorry, you don't qualify.

And I already know about what happened. You used him. Not that I'm surprised, that's what you do best.

I'm pretty sure our agreement was that you wouldn't hurt them anymore...or am I to take that to mean the deal's off?

[Really, bible recitation was exactly the opposite of what he needed right now. Doing damage to himself that he couldn't heal alone wasn't going to help anything.

That didn't mean he couldn't bluff.]

[ Barry's eyes narrowed a bit. He couldn't tell if Johnny was faking but he wasn't going to completely press the issue. ]

Fai came to me of his own free will. He could have said stop at any time and I would have.

[ Barry smirked a little, really he couldn't help it. ]

I think he rather enjoyed our time together, at least for the moment.

Tell me, [ Barry's smile was sickeningly sweet though there was a hint of acid to his gaze. ] have you ever made him feel that way?

[He felt sick. Damned if he did damned if he didn't.

The feel of skin on skin was vivid in his mind at the mention and that was why he didn't let his expression slip.]

Sometimes people have relationships that aren't at all sexual. I don't suppose you would understand that, being an incubus.

[Yeah, that meant Barry might taunt him with details involving Fai and their relationship, but he would take that over Barry learning the truth and tormenting Sola with it.]

[ Barry smiled. No matter the expression on Johnny's face he knew it would bother him one way or the other. ]

Hmm, perhaps not, but then you've never been good at keeping friends without sampling their wares. Your Cherry for example.

[ Chris's name was said with a teasing lilt. ]

You've partaken that fruit have you not.

[Part of him was annoyed that Barry had brought Chris up, but another part was simply amused at what he'd said. So amused, in fact, that he actually laughed.]

Cherry? No, you seem to be mistaking Adam for Eve if you think I've tasted that forbidden fruit.

Charley isn't like that.

[He had more sense than to listen to Johnny's flirtations.]

[ Barry smiled a bit. ]

Hmm, sometimes it's hard to find the difference between you and your sister~

But I imagine you'd want him none the less.

[He was done. He didn't have a reason to subject himself to this, he was just trying to clear his head and this was making things worse.]

Good bye, Barry.

[He stuck his hands in his pockets and walked past the demon, fully intending on leaving him behind.]

[ On a normal night Barry might have just let him go, he'd had his fun, but as Johnny walked by something caught his attention. Maybe this night wouldn't be wasted. ]

Addy. [ Barry didn't turn to face him. His voice would carry well enough and he could sense where Johnny was anyway. ]

When was the last time you fed, Addy?

[He came to a stop and went very still. Only someone with senses like them would be able to pick up on something like that...but he'd been so used to being able to hide it that he didn't think about it.]

I have my blood packs.

[Nevermind they didn't work.]

Why do you care?

Hm, I see.

[ He turned then to look at Johnny's back. ]

How are those working for you, Addy?

[ By the looks of it, not very well. ]

I don't, if your not taking real blood means you'll attack an innocent and prove me right, I shouldn't care.

[ Barry smiled sweetly. ]

If that's what you want then so be it.

[He wished it wasn't so easy for Barry to get to him. If anyone else said the things the demon was saying it wouldn't matter, but because it was Barry and he was right it just irritated him and got under his skin.]

You're wrong. I'm not going to attack anyone.

I'm not a monster.

[It was a fragile belief, but it was true. He had done some monstrous things, but he was not inherently a monster. If the people he had here could love him as he was...then there must be some truth in it.]

I'm not what you think I am.

No, Addy, you are exactly what I think you are. It is you who can't accept that.

[ Barry smiled and moved closer to him. ]

You're going to need to drink Addy. I can sense it in you even if you don't want to believe it.

You can feel it.

[No, he wouldn't listen to him. At the very least, he would block out the demon's words just to keep his friends from being disappointed. They didn't believe he was any less and he'd keep ahold of that for them.]

If you're going to suggest I find some helpless victim you can fuck off now.I won't bite some random human.

[Or any human if he could help it.]

Addy I'm shocked. Do you really think I'd suggest such a thing?

[ Barry put his hand to his heart in a mockery of hurt feelings. ]

You know you're not alone in this place.

[ He moved closer to Johnny so he could put a hand on his shoulder and lean into the vampire. ]

I can give you what you need.

[That hand just made him tense more, but he did finally look over his shoulder at the blond.

Just seeing those eyes and hearing what Barry said made him sick. Demon's blood was the vamperic energy shot, stronger than anything man-made. But it was sludge in his stomach and just made him feel irreparably dirty. Like a sin you could feel on your soul.

The only thing worse, in his opinion, was the feeling of innocent blood on your hands.]

And what would you want in return, exactly? Another rib? Perhaps a piece of my spine or maybe my liver.

Your heart, [ Barry slid his hand down over Johnny's chest till it was resting right over said organ. ] would be a good start.

But if I can't have that, you know what I like.

[ He leaned in so his breath could go right across Johnny's ear. ]

I want you.

[Normally, an action like that would send a chill down his spine in anticipation, but with Barry it sent nothing but dread through his system.

He should say no, he should walk away and leave Barry and his offer behind.

But he knew it would be smarter to give in. If he did, he would be good for a while and he wouldn't have to find so many distractions from the sounds of his friend's blood around him.

He sighed.]

I'll feed you...but not a full course.

[He wanted to keep his guts in place, tyvm.]

You're no fun, Addy.

[ Barry dropped his hand till it was over Johnny's stomach. He traced circles right around where his small intestine was. ]

I was looking forward to a full meal, but I'll take what I can get.

[ Beggars couldn't be choosers after all, and any part of Johnny was worth it. He moved his hand till he was able to take Johnny's hand in his. Moving around he smiled up at the vampire. ]

My place or yours~

[His hackles were still raised, but he knew that wasn't really going to get him what he wanted. If he fought this would only take longer and potentially get violent. So he changed tactics a bit.

He took his hand out of Barry's and brought it up to brush back some of the demon's silver-blond hair.]

Yours, of course.

[He stepped back, hands in his pockets.]

Lead on.

[ Barry blinked in surprise at the affectionate gesture. The smile on his face was more genuine for a moment before he turned to lead the way to his apartment. ]

This way~

[ He fell back so he was closer to Johnny's side though still leading them. ]

You know Addy, you really should come over more often. I don't always bite~

[He didn't shy away, but he kept his hands in his pockets all the same. To anyone observing it might just look like a couple friends out for a stroll.]

No? Funny, it seems that's all you've done when we 'meet up.'

[His tone wasn't barbed, more like he was stating fact.]

Hmm, perhaps you're right, but you stay away for so long can you really blame me?

[ Barry glances over at Johnny and his eyes linger on him. He was irresistible. ]

You can't expect me to not want some [ More like all. ] of you.

[He could feel Barry's gaze on him and he had to shove down the slightly ill feeling that presented itself.]

And what, exactly, would we do at these meetings of yours?

Share tea? Perhaps a couple cookies and a handful of kisses to keep you satisfied.

[Like Barry ever seemed to be satisfied. It was like he was the demon's drug and, on some level, he wished he could flush himself away so Barry couldn't get another fix.]

Is that really such a bad thing?

[ Though Johnny had a point. If given a little Barry would want more, and Sola wasn't going to like that. ]

[Rayfelle's voice echoed in his head from a conversation back home. 'Sex is best with someone who has good taste and intelligence.'
Was it really such a bad thing? No...if that were all it was going to be, but there was a saying about giving an inch and it came into play here.]

If I wanted a tea party, I would arrange one.

That's it, isn't it? Let's go.

[A.K.A get it over with as soon as possible.]

Hmm, as you wish~

[ Barry opened the door to the apartment building and waited for Johnny to step inside before following him. He was all the way on the sixth floor but it wasn't a long walk. They could have flown up, but Barry was trying to get as much time out of Johnny as he could. ]

[Johnny followed along, happy to be off the subject. He didn't like the thought that he'd actually considered that offer. He was slipping up, if he wasn't careful he'd slip right into the demon's claws.

Really, all he should do is imagine the angry and hurt looks on Sola, Rinoa, and Fai's faces to shake some sense into him. That brought a small smile to his face.]

Which floor is it?

The sixth.

[ It was the best height he could get, but the tallest building in this place had already been taken. ]

Hmm..

[Johnny decided the elevator was the best bet. No way was he going to waste time by climbing six flights with Barry.]

I don't suppose your room number has any additional 6's in it...?

No, but then there weren't enough rooms. It takes up one half of the building.

[ Believe him, he would have picked that room if he'd had the chance. He stepped into the elevator and smiled as he looked back. ]

Shall we?

[Johnny didn't respond, he just stepped in and pressed the button before leaning against one of the elevator's walls. On second thought, close enclosed spaces weren't that fun either, at least it was only a few seconds.]

[ Ah alone at last~ Barry moved over to Johnny the minute the doors closed. It may have been a short ride, but that didn't mean he couldn't enjoy a few of Johnny's charms in the meanwhile.

[ He moved to press himself up against Johnny and to lean up for a kiss. ]

[Johnny's hands tightened into fists in his pockets and he didn't exactly kiss Barry back, but he didn't push the demon away, either.

...This was what he'd agreed to, right?

That thought spurred him to put a little more into the kiss, but it was only enough to say he was returning it. The last thing he needed right now was to cockblock the demon into ripping Johnny apart.]

[ Barry all but purred as the kiss was returned. Never mind that it wasn't with the same amount of passion he craved, he would take whatever Johnny would give him.

He pushed himself further against Johnny and wrapped his arms around the taller mans neck. He parted his lips longing to deepen the kiss. ]

[Johnny could feel Barry's lips move against his, trying to deepen the kiss, so the ding of the elevator as it reached it's destination was a welcome sound. He pulled back and looked toward the door.]

We're here. We should go before doors close again.

[ Barry pouted. He was half tempted to forget the doors and stay, but there were more important things to be had. He reached down and took Johnny's hands to intertwine their fingers as he backed out of the elevator. ]
