vatheon | so about that flyer...

[ there's a bit of a commotion tonight, and many locals are talking about something happening up on the island. anyone curious enough to check it out would first notice a glowing shore to match a starry sky; it seems to be a type of jellyfish causing this.

immediately afterward they would undoubtedly see a very large boat having apparently docked itself on the shore. there's no captain in sight and it appears to be completely inoperable, so it's a full-blown mystery on how it arrived on the shore. it certainly doesn't look like a normal boat though— probably due to the fact that it is utterly decked out for a party.

there are streamers, balloons, and a whole lot of glitter on deck. there's even a large banner that reads:

☆ HAVE FUN!!! ☆

on deck there are speakers blasting a nautical-style party music should dancing be your thing. nearby there's plenty of good food for the eating, along with a gratuitous amount of chapagne (with a non-alcoholic brand for the underage); a champagne tower can also be seen. party games are encouraged, and a few are even already set up (such as the large whale-themed piñata).

[Oh! Another walking animal! Ran wonders if they're all related somehow...she approaches the mouse with a friendly smile.]

Hi there! Are you a friend of Bugs's?

[He blinks, and thinks...]

... Oh, the bunny! Yeah, I've met him.

[Without hesitation, she sticks out her hand to have it shook. That seemed to be more common here than the usual bowing.]

I'm Ran Mouri! Nice to meet you! I...[Awkward smile.] I kinda caused a ruckus in the forest a few weeks back...sorry about that.

[Because he totally lives in the forest, right?]

[He shakes her hand, but looks confused about the apology.]

... What happened in the forest? I don't think I've been there yet.

[But to make up for the confusion, he'll give a smile.]

And my name's Mickey Mouse. Nice ta meetcha too, Ran.

Oh! [Guess he doesn't, then! Just as well. Ran grins and brings a hand behind her head.] Nothing--just got a little noisy is all!

Mickey! That's a great name! American?

... American what?

[most confusing conversation ever.]

[Blank stare. Ran suddenly blushes.]

Oh...haha...maybe not? I could've sworn I've heard the name before!

Well, I have a lot of friends here, so it's happened before.

Eheh...sorry about that! Enjoying the party? [What would a mouse eat at the party..? Mouse...mouse...cheese? No, that's just in cartoons. Fruit..?]

Yup! Now we can all relax. I've always liked seein' the water... brings back good memories.

Hmm...? [Ran draws out her hum curiously.] Come from a place with a lot of water?

Sorta. I've been... around.

[He chuckles a bit.]

But no matter where ya go... a sight like that doesn't change too much.

There's something special about this, though. [She smiles a bit, looking at the glowing crests of the waves.] Something magical, don't you think?

[He looks towards them as well, sharing her smile.]

A-huh. Almost like a fairy tale.

Yeah...just like a fairy tale. [Quiet sigh.] Do you think there's magic in this place?

Absolutely.

[he states it like it should be obvious.]

[Ran curiously turns to the mouse.]

You really think so?

Sure! It explains a lot about this place, doesn't it? And magic is in a lot of places, if ya look hard enough. There's a lot of power in this place.

Lots of power...[Ran repeated the words. She understood that behind power, there was always something more...]

It sounds dangerous.

It can be, in the wrong hands.

[He frowns... given that April fools 'joke', he wonders just how wrong these hands are.]

[Ran noticed Mickey's expression fall, and her smile faded to match his frown.]

...I can't...I can't believe that everyone in power here are bad people. What would that mean for us?

The problem is that we don't know a whole lot about the people in charge. My friends are I have started ta look into it, but so far, we haven't come up with anythin'. It's good ta be optimistic about 'em... but at the same time, ya gotta be careful.

You're going to be careful, right? [She flashes the mouse a concerned look.] I mean, we've seen what they're capable of, or what their sense of humor is, anyway.

Aw, don't worry about me. I may not look like it, but I'm pretty capable of defendin' myself and those around me.

[Ran returns the assurance with a weak smile. She wasn't entirely convinced, but every had to do what they could, right?]

I hope it doesn't ever come to that, though.
